Your town council has been very active.
The new Super Lagoon planning and preparation is underway. Paradise Hill and the RM of Frenchman Butte along with St. Walburg have each appointed two councillors to a committee which will oversee the construction of this $12.5 million project.
Leases, right of ways, public consultations, engineering oversight and cost control are part of their mandate. The chairman of this committee is St. Walburg Councillor Jamie Hallett. Target date for operations is Oct. 30, 2018. Note: We will be holding a Super Lagoon Open House on Wednesday, June 7 from 1-6 p.m. at the St. Walburg Legion to explain the project. We will be holding a Super Lagoon Open House at the Paradise Hill Community Centre in Paradise Hill on Tuesday, June 6 from 3-8 p.m.
We will be starting on asphalt and curb repairs very shortly. The first project is the corner at Kim’s/Tempo gas station. We are going to repair the sidewalks and asphalt and make the turn wider to better accommodate large trucks.
Working with the Tourism and Heritage Society as partners, we are going to double the size of the campgrounds. The new campsites will have sewer, water and up to 50 amp service.
Both the federal and provincial governments have provided us with grants enabling us to hire summer students.
Three summer students are from the local area and you will soon see them around town and at the graveyard painting, cleaning, cutting grass and “other” tasks needed to run our town. We will also be hiring a university student who is in the civil engineering program. That university student will focus upon storm sewers and water drainage. You will see that student running survey sight lines which we will then use to provide properly sloped ditches and storm sewers.
Thank you to the Royal Purple for inviting me to speak at your AGM. I enjoyed it very much. The town is grateful for all that you do – and it’s a lot!
Thank you to the Senior’s Centre who invited town council to provide an update on town activity. We very much enjoyed the opportunity and look forward to repeating the event in six months.
Thank you to Husky, Serafina and SaskPower for providing the “open houses” on your new projects – great information, great projects and great economic opportunities for the local economy!
