Stuart Gammell

Councillor

My wife, Deborah and I moved to St. Walburg in 1977. We have enjoyed every day since.

In the early years, working apart from family was hard but this was a reality for many small communities. I worked at Department of Highways for some years here in St. Walburg but with Government cut backs things took a turn for me. The trucking industry was a life long career of choice for over 40 years. The larger part was in the energy sector, allowing me to be at home. I also long hauled – mostly in the USA, which included 46 states. I must say that this energy downturn is not the first.

Now retired, some ask what I do with my time? I always reply – “I’ve had 40 years to think about it.”

I have headed and joined many projects here at home – Elks, President of Minor Ball, Breaking ground for our four diamonds and building fields, helped volunteer building the skating arena, curling rink, bowling alley, school and Lodge.

We have watched St. Walburg move forward and our family has been made so much larger by you All.
